The SmartGiant Battery Emulator is a series of battery simulator products. These battery emulators are mainly used in the automated testing of computer, consumer electronics, and communication products, such as smart watches, smart phones, tablet computers, laptop, GPS devices, Bluetooth headsets, e-cigarettes, and other consumer and wearable smart devices.

1. Introduction

With the advent of wearables, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things, the demand for various battery-powered or battery-related products is also increasing, and the quality requirements for these products are also becoming higher and higher. This trend has prompted manufacturers to increase their investment in production testing to ensure the product quality. If real batteries are used in production testing, the disadvantages include low efficiency, poor consistency, high cost, and considerable safety concerns. As a result, this leads to the development of battery simulators. The battery emulator can replace the real battery in the production testing of the aforementioned products, improve production efficiency, maintain consistency, reduce costs, and improve safety.

5.1 Mobile Phone Mainboard Test

Requirements:

① Test for charge and discharge function;

② Test for electronic current in standby state;

③ Test for electronic current leakage;

④ Test for over-voltage and under-voltage.

BAT Charge TestThe battery emulator is used as a battery to test the charging function of the Device Under Testing (DUT), and the charging electric current can be set (0-5 A).    After the voltage is set to the corresponding BAT voltage, measure the charging electric current to determine whether it is within the normal range.
BAT Discharge TestThe battery emulator is used as a battery to test the discharging function of the DUT, and the charging electric current can be set (0-5 A).  After the voltage is set to the corresponding BAT voltage, measure the discharging electric current to determine whether it is within the normal range.
BAT Standby Current TestTest the electric current when the DUT in standby state.After the voltage is set to the corresponding BAT voltage, in the standby mode measure the electric current to determine whether it is within the normal range.
BAT Leakage Current Test  Test the electric current leakage when the DUT in the powered off.  After the voltage is set to the corresponding BAT voltage, in the power off state measure the electric current leakage to determine whether it is within the normal range.
BAT Peak Current TestTest the working electric current of the DUT under the maximum power condition.After the voltage is set to the corresponding BAT voltage, in the maximum power state, measure the peak electric current to determine whether it is within the normal range.
BAT OV TestTest whether the DUT can be normally protected under overvoltage conditions.After setting the corresponding BAT overvoltage, monitor the electric current and voltage values to determine whether the overvoltage protection is normal.
BAT UV TestTest whether the DUT can be normally protected under under-voltage conditions.After setting the corresponding BAT under-voltage, monitor the electric current and voltage values to determine whether the under-voltage protection is normal.

Compared with the physical battery itself that charge and discharge are slow, the battery emulator greatly improves test efficiency, supports high-precision setting of voltage and current, and directly measures the readback voltage and electric current value.
