The Edge computer has built-in artificial intelligent chip, image acquisition unit, image processing unit and data transmission unit. SG2710 adopts a combination design method that integrates the core board, backboard, and interface expansion board. The backboard is for deep customization, and the interface expansion board is for micro customization.
3. Application Scenarios
Currently, the SG2710 is mainly used in the following scenarios:
3.1. Passenger Flow Analysis
The smart camera can be used in shopping malls, supermarkets, retail, and tourism venues for passenger flow information collection. Smart cameras can be installed at the entrances and exits and other designated areas to accurately collect, analyze, store, and transmit passenger flow data. In a stable indoor lighting environment, the accuracy of passenger flow statistics can reach more than 95% without post-adjustment. The device can be remotely configured and managed through the web interface, and also supports real-time collection of passenger flow data in eight areas, heat map display, and customer residence time statistics. The collected data, combined with customized report analysis, can provide a basis for the transformation of various entities to new retail.

3.2 Infectious Disease Screening
HFMD (hand-foot-mouth disease) is an infectious disease that spreads rapidly and is associated with significant morbidity. To prevent the disease spreading, preschools and playgrounds can require considerable manpower. The use of SmartGiant’s morning inspection machine can not only reduce the manpower need but also can fast screen, alert, and summarize information according to the disease characteristics.
Based on SG2710, SmartGiant’s products can carry out the video analysis and screen typical characteristics of the HFMD and other infectious diseases such as the pink eye. This system can also carry out the body temperature detection for children and their parents during school drop-off and pick-up.
3.3. Industrial Applications
The collection of product test data during the production process, and tracking of the quality of shipped products, and many other quality control issues have been an important focus of manufacturing industries. SmartGiant builds a complete QR code scanning system that is based on the edge computer and USB camera. This system can use the QR code as the unique identification of the product, and link the test data to single products during the production process for follow-up shipment control and tracking. The edge computer can simultaneously read the QR code from four cameras, and can also select the front-end camera according to the needs of different industrial scenes, such as the scanning distance, the size of the QR code, the light environment on site, and the special fill light. The entire system is optimally designed to solve our customers’ problems in the manufacturing industry.
